About

Our History

Ceterius was born in 2017 out of a need to support customers after their previous provider dissolved its Web Services group. Many customers were left high and dry and didn’t know who to turn to. This is where Ceterius comes in. The word Ceterius is a portmanteau. Ceteri means “the rest” or “the remaining” and us, well my company was built by The Rest of Us, those who were left.

Our Vision

I realized that over the past decade, many of the bigger companies I had worked with were rebuilding their sites using open source or free Content Management Systems. Their reasoning was simple. Why pay $20,000 or more per year just to have your website. Many of the sites I had worked on or built were now rebuilt using WordPress, Drupal, Joomla or some other Open Source solution. At first, I thought they were crazy. What could these platforms provide? Could they match the big CMSs, feature for feature? Were they scalable? Were they easier to work with and maintain? I have to admit that some years back, if a client said they wanted to rebuild their website using WordPress, I’d chuckle to myself and tell them that this would be a huge mistake. Boy, was I wrong. After working with WordPress, I came to realize that not only is it so easy to use but you can pretty much do anything with your site that many of the big CMSs could do. Need a certain feature? There’s probably a plugin for it. I built a number of sites just to familiarize myself with WordPress and didn’t have to write a single line of code. It’s that easy!
